Young tennis players net points on tour

Young athletes from Sarnia did well at the first two stops of the 2014 Little Caesars Junior Tennis Tour in Southwestern Ontario.

Andrew Davies, 13, placed second in the boys’ 18-and-under event in Chatham on June 7 after winning the same event on the first stop in Amherstburg on May 31.

Davies is a member of the Sarnia Riding Club and the Sarnia Tennis Club.

Tristan Haagsma of Sarnia placed third in the 14-and-under boys’ event in Amherstburg. Haagsma was second in Chatham, and Sarnia's Chandler Haagsma was right behind in third.

On the girls’ side, Elise McInnis of Sarnia placed third in the 18-and-under event in Chatham.

The Little Caesars Tour continues July 12 in Sarnia at the Sarnia Riding Club, and concludes in London on July 27.

Players earn points at each event toward an overall season championship.
