Why not? says Nicole Doyon, launching her surf ski from Canatara Beach for a training session on Lake Huron.
"There's no ice and it's a beautiful day," said the artist, photographer and martial arts instructor from Sarnia. A surf ski is a lightweight kayak used for wave surfing and racing, albeit usually in warmer waters.
Doyon said she took up kayaking eight year ago and began entering marathon races two years ago.
Nineteen feet long, the kayak weighs just 27 pounds.
