Lambton Public Health is now reporting COVID-19 cases on a geographic basis.

The case map launched last week breaks the county in five regions of roughly equal population: three urban areas in the immediate Sarnia area and two rural areas covering the rest of Lambton County.

The data to date indicates cases are significantly higher in Sarnia than in rural parts of the county. The highest concentrations are is central and south Sarnia.

Lambton County council on Sept. 16 directed the health unit – which was concerned about privacy protection — to provide more detail information about novel coronavirus infections.

The map is based on where the confirmed cases are living, not where they were exposed, and should not be used to draw conclusions about personal risk, Lambton Public Health said.
