After breaking several provincial records at recent meets, Sarnia’s Sue Weir is gearing up for the 2016 Ontario Masters Swimming Championship.

Weir, competing in the 60-to-64 age group, broke provincial records in the 50-metre and 200-metre backstroke at the Thornhill Master’s Invitational on Feb. 28.

She also had first place finishes in 100-metre backstroke and 50-metre freestyle events at the meet, held in Markham, Ont.

At another recent Master’s meet in Brighton, Michigan she broke records in backstroke and freestyle events.

Weir is heading back to the Markham Pan Am Pool Centre for the Ontario Championship, held April 1-3.

The Sarnia woman, who only began to compete seriously at the age of 36, holds numerous Canadian and provincial records and in 2013 was honoured by the Sarnia Lambton Sports Hall of Fame.
