The Sarnia Sting didn't wait for the OHL trading deadline in January to make a splash.

Instead, they pulled the trigger with the Oshawa Generals last week, acquired overage winger Matt Mistele in exchange for three draft choices.

Mistele, 21, had eight goals and eight assists with the reigning Memorial Cup champion Generals in 19 games prior to the deal.

The Whitby native, originally drafted by Plymouth Whalers in the second round in 2011, scored 50 goals last season. He notched 37 between the Whalers and Oshawa during the regular season and added 13 more for the Generals in 21 playoff games.

Mistele had 100 career regular season goals in 230 OHL games before his debut with the Sting last Friday. He was a sixth round draft choice of the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.
