A series of free seminars initiated last year by the First Christian Reformed Church is back for an encore.

“Tuesdays at First” topics cover a wide range of interests and run each Tuesday through the month of April, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at 1105 Exmouth St.

All are welcome, and light refreshments are provided.

APRIL 2 – ABUSE OF OLDER ADULTS. Learn to recognize the warnings signs and risk factors, and how best to respond supportively. With Tracy Rogers.

APRIL 9 – VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. A focus on public education and the programs and resources available locally. Presented jointly by Women’s Interval Home and Sexual Assault Survivors’ Centre.

APRIL 16 – CHILDREN. Two part presentation with the Children’s Aid Society. Part 1 – Awareness, protection and reporting of child abuse. Part 2 – The Foster for Permanency Program.

APRIL 23 – FUNDAMENTALS OF INVESTING. Jamie MacPherson of Edward Jones will discuss everything from stocks and bonds to mutual funds and asset allocation.

APRIL 30 – HEAVEN’S WILDLIFE RESCUE. Learn how the local rehabilitation and education centre treats injured wildlife, with a chance to meet “non-releasable wildlife ambassadors.”
