Sarnia U-10 ‘BB’ takes home gold in Hamilton

Published on

The Sarnia Jr. Sting U10 BB team were gold medal champions at the Hamilton Huskies Classic Tournament over the weekend.

After some close losses in the round robin play, the team was able to bounce back with a tie against the Barrie Jr. Colts and an impressive win over the Cumberland Jr. Grads.

In the semifinals the boys took on a top division rival in Kitchener Blue and managed to fight hard for an impressive 3-2 win. Outstanding performances from goaltender Hunter Allison the team’s defense to limit this high-scoring team to just 2 tallies.

In the finals they met another tough division rival in Kitchener Red but the team rose to the occasion. A late game charge from the opposition sent the game into sudden death 3 on 3 overtime, but the boys were not phased in the least. During the break in action between the end of the third and the OT period the kids were all business as they knew they had the opportunity to close out the gold with one shot.

Another great goaltending performance was put on as Brody Sommise kept the door shut on some key saves in OT, while it was just a matter of time before the Sarnia offense took over.

Gloves and sticks were sent flying into the air at 2:51 into the overtime frame as Mason Harper blasted a wrist shot top corner to put the stamp on a Championship win!

Keep an eye on this team as expectations are for a lot more hardware this year
