Sarnia team wins lawn bowling gold

Sarnia’s Rebecca McQueen and Debbie Archer are the new Ontario champions in women’s pairs lawn bowling.

And the duo pulled of the feat on home turf in Germain Park by defeating another city pair, Nancy McCann and Sue MacDonald, who took silver in the all-Sarnia final.

Baylee Van Steijn and Louisa Arthur of Oshawa won bronze.

The Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club hosted 16 men’s and 16 ladies’ teams from across the province July 1-3.

The men’s championship was won by Charlie Lyle and Peter Clarke of Burlington, who defeated a team from Dundalk in the gold medal game.

The provincial championships were organized and hosted as part of the Sarnia club’s 110th anniversary year.

The event was convened by Bob Machan and Gord McKay.
