Sarnia swimmers break provincial records

A pair of local swimmers had a strong showing at the 2016 Provincial Masters Swimming Championships held in Markham recently.

A pair of local swimmers had a strong showing at the 2016 Provincial Masters Swimming Championships held in Markham recently.

Wally Henne, competing in the 80-84 age group, won gold medals in the 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m breaststroke, and the 100m and 200m individual medleys. He also broke the provincial records in the 50m breaststroke and 100m individual medley races.

Sue Weir, competing in the 60-64 age group, won gold medals in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 200m backstroke and 100m individual medley. She also won silver in the 100m freestyle.

Weir also broke her provincial records in the 50m and 200m backstroke.

Henne and Weir will compete at the 2016 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships to be held in Toronto May 20-23.
