Sarnia is asking the Ontario government to intervene and stop people from high-risk COVID-19 regions coming to the city to use its DriveTest Centre.
An influx of non-local residents from regions under Phase 2 restrictions is placing the health and safety of centre staff and the wider community at risk, said Chris Carter, Sarnia’s CEO and chair of its Primary Control Group.
Residents in Ottawa, Peel, and Toronto public health unit regions are now back under modified Phase 2 restrictions, following a surge in cases.
Carter, in a letter to Doug Ford, asked the premier on Wednesday to temporarily stop non-residents from booking road tests at centres outside their region.
