A proposal for a $2-million elevated pier and pavilion on the St. Clair River has failed to win support from city council – at least for now.
Councillors said the “Riverwalk” concept proposed by local architect David Lavender would be a great addition to the city’s waterfront, but narrowly voted against taking any action.
Coun. Mike Kelch had wanted staff to take the preliminary step by making a few calls to assess it’s feasible.
But the majority said now is not the time to take on a non-essential project.
“We have enough on the plate,” said Coun. Bev MacDougall.
