The former St. Peter’s School property could see new life as a retirement home.

Zelinka Priamo Ltd., a developer with offices in London and Toronto, is interested in creating a retirement complex and low-rise apartment building on the 2.3-acre site at 696 Oxford St.

The project cleared the first hurdle May 29 when city council allowed the developer to apply for an amendment to the city’s Official Plan.

St. Peter’s elementary was one of four Catholic schools in Sarnia that were consolidated into Holy Trinity and St. Matthew’s in September of 2010.
