Police offer free shredding event to help prevent fraud

Residents looking to safely dispose of confidential or sensitive documents can bring them to Sarnia Police’s ‘Shred Event’ on Saturday, May 26.

The 13th annual event is offered free of charge at the Lambton Mall, in the parking lot north of Canadian Tire, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Individuals can safely dispose of sensitive documents, such as those with birthdates, addresses, SIN’s, etc., that criminals could use to commit fraud and identity theft.

It is not meant for businesses, and do not bring newspapers and magazines that can be recycled.

Donations will be accepted for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
