Residents of Point Edward are being asked to collectively lower their toilet lids next week.
The village is cleaning out its sanitary sewers from Monday, Oct. 7 to Friday, Oct. 11 and advising residents to take precautions.
“We recommend that you keep the lid of your toilets down as some minor water splashing may occur,” said Jason Verstraeten, the village’s manager of environmental services.
If residents smell sewer gas in the home, they should pour a glass of water into all sink traps and shower traps, he added.
“If the toilet empties, please flush.”
