A scholarship has been created in honour of two long-time Point Edward residents
The Maynard and Rene Walker Family Scholarship
will provide the winner with $5,000 U.S. ($6,725 CDN) in each of the first two years of his or her post-secondary education.
“The Walker family has been an important part of the village for many years and we appreciate that Mary Ellen has remembered her roots,” Mayor Bev Hand said of their daughter.
Winners will be selected based on high school grades and contributions to the Point Edward community. Applications can be picked up at the village municipal office and must be submitted by May 1.
