Picnic to celebrate building centennial

Published on

An old-fashioned picnic is planned for Sept. 1 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre.

Building users and community partners will enjoy a barbecue, old-time games and the Seaway Kiwanis train.

The community centre was originally Sarnia Public School, built in 1916. In 1985, the city worked with Kiwanis to repurpose the building into a not-for-profit community centre.

The Golden K club is providing funding for the Centennial Heritage Picnic to celebrate a building that has been a part of the community for a century.
