Three Lambton drivers hit with impaired charges over the weekend: OPP

Three Lambton County drivers face impaired charges in separate incidents over the weekend, OPP say.

On Friday, April 19, just before 12 noon, a Lambton County OPP officer, while on general patrol on Highway 40 in St. Clair Township, spotted a vehicle traveling over the posted 80 km/hr speed limit.

A traffic stop was initiated and it was determined the driver was suspended.

“Further investigation revealed the driver was breaching conditions of release, at which time they were placed under arrest without incident,” OPP said in a news release.

As a result, the driver, a 41-year-old of Sarnia, has been charged under Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
  • Speeding 1 - 49 Km/h over posted limit

On Friday, April 19, at 7:43 p.m., Lambton County OPP officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 40 in St. Clair Township, for reports of a possible impaired driver.

Police say the vehicle was located and a traffic stop initiated.

“It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol,” police said in a news release. “An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where further tests were administered.”

As a result, the driver, a 56-year-old of Courtright, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired - alcohol
·      Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 14, 2024.

 

On Saturday, April 20, a Lambton OPP officer spotted a suspicious vehicle and initiated a traffic stop just before 2 a.m. on Mandaumin Road in Enniskillen Township.

“It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol,” OPP said in a news release. “An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where further tests were administered.”

As a result, the driver, an 18-year-old of Wyoming, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired - alcohol
·      Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 14, 2024.
