NOVA donation boosts cancer care redevelopment project at Bluewater Health

The Bluewater Health Foundation is now over half-way to its fundraising goal towards a new, redeveloped cancer clinic, thanks fo a donation from NOVA Chemicals.

Officials announced the $500,000 donation this week at Bluewater Health, where the new space will be renamed to recognize NOVA’s contribution.

“We are so grateful for the generous support from NOVA Chemicals, who have long been a huge advocate for healthcare here in Sarnia-Lambton,” said Kathy Alexander, Executive Director, Bluewater Health Foundation. “It is thanks to the support from our community and generous donors like NOVA Chemicals that Bluewater Health is able to continue providing the highest standard of care locally.

“NOVA Chemicals truly understands the importance of this and we are so lucky to have them as a major donor.”

The hospital’s cancer clinic is currently undergoing a major renovation to allow a more spacious The Foundation has now achieved just over half of their fundraising goal of $3.7 million for the project, which will see a complete overhaul of the second floor Norman building. The redevelopment will bring together Oncology, Pharmacy and the Laboratory in a network of services to provide a seamless patient experience.

“This significant contribution is a demonstration of NOVA Chemicals’ long-standing history of investing in the well-being of the communities where we live and work,” said Joseph Wolf, Manufacturing East Vice President, NOVA Chemicals. “As the only cancer care provider in Sarnia-Lambton, sustainability of services is critical. By supporting the redevelopment of Bluewater Health’s cancer clinic, we are fostering hope, resilience, and enhanced access to life-saving care for many years to come.”

The updated cancer clinic is expected to be complete in the spring of 2025.
