No injuries or leaks following Sarnia train derailment: CN

Officials say there were no leaks, fires or injuries as a result of a train derailment early Thursday in Sarnia.

“Shortly after 3:00am this morning a CN train pulling into the Sarnia, ON yard derailed a reported 14 cars, three of the cars are tanker cars on their side and are carrying LPG  (liquid petroleum gas),” said Michelle Hannan, media relations advisor with CN. “There are no leaks, fires or injuries as a result of this incident.”

According to an alert through the Aamjiwnaang Notification System issued just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday, members of the Sarnia Primary Group were notified of the incident, that occurred at St. Andrew and Vidal Streets in the city’s south end. 

St. Andrew Street was closed from Vidal Street South to Scott Road.

“CN would like to thank local first responders who were on site and apologize for inconveniences to local commuters as a result of this incident,” Hannan added.
