Lambton County has joined a carpool service that makes it easier for residents to access other southwestern Ontario communities.
RideShare is a free service for interested carpoolers who are matched with a driver or rider to share rides to work, school, medical appointments or special events.
Participants who sign up at www.regionalrideshare.ca provide their home and destination details, driving preferences, travel times, etc. The site then automatically searches for compatible carpoolers in the neighbourhood or along the identified route.
It is up to participant to send the matching carpoolers a suggestion to share the ride.
The service is available to residents, agencies and organizations.
An official RideShare launch is being held in Wyoming on Sept. 24.
