After six years of talk and negotiations, Sarnia has given its final approval to a large housing development on the north end of the former Bright’s Grove Golf Course.

The city said it is now satisfied the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority and developer have a viable plan in place to manage storm water, vehicle access, and floodproofing in the low lying land near Cow Creek.

The Groves Active Lifestyle Community will see 64 condominiums and eight homes built on the higher part of the 31-acre property, which is north of the creek.

The five local investors behind the project have paid for 17 technical studies and reduced the total number of units to 72 from 108 following resident objections about density.
