The central roundabout in Canatara Park is being repaved and the flood-prone road east of it raised about half a metre (20 inches), City Hall says.
All parts of the park will remain open but the roadwork will disrupt cross-park traffic.
The section of Lake Chipican Drive east of the roundabout and its adjacent walking trail will be repaved, as well as a short section north of the roundabout.
Flooding from a nearby fountain area caused part of the road to be closed this spring.
The work was expected to begin mid-May and, weather permitting, be complete prior to the Canada Day celebrations, the city said.
