Point Edward is looking for a mayor.
Larry MacKenzie tendered his resignation last week after three years as mayor and a total of 28 years on village council.
“The time has come in my life where I need to spend more time with my family and watching my grandchildren grow up,” he said in a release.
“I wish everyone in the village the best in the future.”
His fellow councillors appointed Mackenzie to the position in 2013 after long-time mayor Dick Kirkland was forced to step down for health reason.
He was then acclaimed to the top job during the 2014 municipal election when no other candidates came forward.
During his long years of service on village council MacKenzie helped oversee development of Point Edward’s waterfront and the erosion control project under the Blue Water Bridge.
