Canadian journalist Amanda Lindhout will be the keynote speaker at the Bluewater Health Foundation’s annual gala on Oct. 11.
Lindhout is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, A House in the Sky, which recounts the harrowing ordeal of being kidnapped and held in captivity in Somalia for 15 months.
The book is currently being made into a Hollywood movie, with Oscar-nominated actress Rooney Mara playing the role of Amanda.
The gala at the Dante Club includes a five-course meal, live auction and musical entertainment.
