Lambton College has earned top honours for applied research and innovation for the second straight year.

The National Gold Award of Excellence, from Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) was announced during the organization’s annual awards luncheon in Montreal Quebec, recently.

“We are so honoured to have received this prestigious award two years in a row, especially considering the strength of applied research across Canadian colleges,” said Rob Kardas, Lambton’s president & CEO. “I’m proud of our accomplishments in research and innovation, and that very much includes our collaborative efforts and the way we are committed to supporting the growth of research in the college sector.”

The Applied Research and Innovation Excellence Award recognizes a college or institute that has improved the productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and community partners through the development of new and/or improved products, processes and services. It also recognizes institutions that provide students and graduates with real-word experience to enhance their in-class education.

For Lambton, the honour comes on the heels of being ranked the country’s #3 research college in 2022 by Research Infosource Inc.

The CICan Awards of Excellence recognize best practices from institutions across the country, as well as individual leadership and achievements. The awards are presented in ten categories at gold, silver and bronze levels.

Since 2016, Lambton has been named as a recipient of the Applied Research and Innovation Excellence Award in either the gold, silver or bronze level every year except for one.

Lambton has also received the Bronze Program Excellence Award for the Aamjiwnaang Personal Support Worker program in 2022 and Bronze in 2021 for the Indigenous Education Excellence Award.
