The U12A Sarnia Jr. Sting travelled to Newmarket to compete in the U12A International Silver Stick Finals, this past weekend.

“The boys played their hearts out going 4-0 in the round-robin, placing 1st in their grouping,” the coaches said. “The Sting played a very tough Essex Southpoint team in the semi-finals, coming back from a 3-1 deficit going into the third period and winning 4-3.”

“The finals were against a known adversary, the Woodstock Jr Navy Vets U12AA team, who they’ve exchanged wins with during the regular season. Very tough battled game, with two bouncing pucks making their way in the Sting’s net and were finally defeated to the strong Navy Vets team to a 3-1 loss.”

“The players truly showed their strength over the weekend playing against teams from all around the province, and came together as a strong, hardworking, disciplined team that put Sarnia on the map as a tough team to beat. All the players should be proud of the effort level left on the ice in Newmarket, as the achievements that this team has earned, is on a historic level.”
