An Ontario Provincial Police marine unit ferries a convoy of Port Huron Float Down participants back to Michigan after winds blew them off course to Sarnia’s shore on Aug. 19.

Despite warnings from officials, thousands of Americans and Canadians took to the St. Clair River for the unsanctioned annual event.

No injuries were reported, but according to Canadian officials about two dozen U.S. residents wound up on the Canadian side. All were returned unscathed with help from Sarnia Transit.
