Flags lose in semi-finals

The season has ended for the Mooretown Flags. Mooretown suffered a 6-2 loss at home to the Essex 73’s on Feb. 29 and were swept 4-0 in the second round of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League playoffs.

Jakob Reeves and Landon Wilson scored for the Flags and goalie Brandon Johnson made 30 saves in the loss.

Winger Ryan Lyle was the Mooretown’s top scorer in the playoffs with four goals and eight assists in 11 games, while Joe DeSena potted five goals and five helpers.

Johnson played all but one period in the post-season, finishing with a 3.79 goals against average and a save percentage of .903.

The 73's will play the winner of the other semi-final between the Blenheim Blades and Amherstburg Admirals.
