Details about Tall Ships Celebration parking, shuttles, road closures

The City of Sarnia issued the following news release today:

The City of Sarnia and Tourism Sarnia-Lambton will be hosting the 2019 Sarnia Tall Ships Celebration on Friday, August 9 - Sunday, August, 11. To ensure public safety and traffic control throughout the event, the following logistics have been set in place.

Parking

Event parking will be available at Sandrin Services Inc. (150 Exmouth Street), Lambton Public Health (160 Exmouth Street), and Holmes Foundry (across from Tim Hortons) on Exmouth Street. For those who prefer not to walk, golf cart rides from these parking lots into the Tall Ships event at the Sarnia Harbour will be available for $2.00 per rider. There will be no Tall Ships event parking within Harbour and Seaway Roads.

Shuttles

Shuttles will be available free of charge at the Starlight Casino (2000 Venetian Boulevard), taking passengers to and from the Tall Ships event at the Sarnia Harbour. Shuttles will also be available at Lambton Mall (1380 London Road), taking passengers to and from the ARTZscape by the Bay event area in Centennial Park at Maxwell Street. Shuttles will run every 15 minutes each day for the duration of the event taking place from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Those seeking accessible parking are encouraged to park at the Starlight Casino and take the shuttle directly into the festival. All shuttles are accessible.

Road Closures

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, Front Street between Exmouth Street and Maxwell Street will be closed to all through traffic. Volunteers will be located at the closures to direct traffic and permit access to authorized vehicles. Moreover, at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday August 10, volunteers will be located at the intersection of Harbour Road and Exmouth Street to direct traffic and allow vehicles through the closure to access the businesses within that closure. There will be no through traffic access to the west of the Andrew S. Brandt Marina with the exception of authorized vehicles. ALL BUSINESSES WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR THE DURATION OF THE EVENT.

The road closures will be in place for the duration of the weekend and will reopen to through traffic at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11.
