The Crown has decided not to proceed with charges involving a Sarnia pediatrician.

Dr. Kunwar Singh was arrested last December and charged with one count of indecent assault on a female.

Police said the charge arose from a patient assessment done at Singh’s office in 1982 when the complainant was 15 years of age.

Singh was charged several weeks after a woman, then 51, began demonstrating in front of his Sarnia office.

The case was adjourned at the Sarnia courthouse numerous times before the charges were stayed.

The Sarnia Observer reported on July 30 that Assistant Crown attorney Bianca DiBiase had told the court it was “not in the public interest to proceed with the charges at this time.”
