Sarnia has approved a new five-year lease for the Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club to use the city-owned facility and bowling greens at Germain Park.

The 113-year-old club has leased the property at 550 Bright St. since 1961. It includes 12 bowling greens, outdoor field lights, washrooms, clubhouse and picnic area.

The club in turn runs the facility and pays for its operating costs, including the fertilizer, seed, sand and about $70,000 worth of mowers and other equipment needed to maintain the greens.

This year’s capital plans include pathway upgrades in the facility and around the public washrooms east of the clubhouse.
