Former Sarnia Sting owner Rob Ciccarelli has been honoured for his long-standing contribution to the Ontario Hockey League.
Ciccarelli and ex-Windsor, Detroit and Plymouth owner Peter Karmanos Jr. were each thanked for their passion and commitment to the league at its annual Board of Governors meeting in Niagara-on-the Lake last week.
Ciccarelli brought OHL hockey to Sarnia when he was given permission to relocate the Newmarket Royals in 1994.
He sold the franchise to Michigan natives Derian Hatcher and David Legwand earlier this year.
