Chychrun to face Russians

Defenceman Jakob Chychrun will carry the Sarnia Sting banner when Team OHL takes on the Russians in the CHL Canada-Russia Super Series in Windsor next month.

The 17-year-old alternate captain will be in the OHL lineup when the six-game series stops at the home of the Spitfires on Monday, Nov. 16.

The Florida-born rearguard was chosen first overall by the Sting in the OHL Priority Selection in 2014.

He is expected to be one of the top picks in the National Hockey League draft next June in Buffalo.

Meanwhile, former Sting head coach Trevor Letowski will be an assistant coach for Team OHL games in both Windsor and Owen Sound.

Letowski is an associate coach this season in Windsor.

The game in Owen Sound in set for Nov. 12.

Over the 12-year history of the junior hockey series, the OHL has 20 wins and a tie in 24 contests, including a 2-1 win in Sarnia over Nail Yakupov and the Russians in 2012.
