Bluewater gymnasts post great results

Seven athletes from Bluewater Gymnastics competed at the Ontario Provincial Championships April 9-10, and three emerged as provincial champions.

Seven athletes from Bluewater Gymnastics competed at the Ontario Provincial Championships April 9-10, and three emerged as provincial champions.

Jovie Richardson placed 7th overall and was the provincial champion on bars, competing in the High Performance Novice division at the meet in Mississauga.

Rachael Riley, in the same division, placed 5th overall and won three bronze medals on vault, bars and floor.

Both girls will compete at the Canadian Championships in Edmonton in June.

Amy Bladon, in the High Performance Junior division, placed 3rd on beam, floor and overall, and won silver on vault and bars. She is also headed to the Canadian Championships.

Lexi McCormack, competing in the Level 9, age 15 and over division, placed 4th overall, which qualified her for the Ontario team headed to the Eastern Canadian Championships in Quebec City in May.

She was also the Provincial Bar Champion and won silver on vault.

Serena Baker, Level 10 age 15 and over, was 5th overall and secured a spot on the Ontario team travelling to the Canadians.

She won gold on bars and was 4th on vault.

Shea Skinn-Wai placed 10th overall, 7th on beam, and won the bronze medal on vault in the Level 7 age 10-11 division.

And Lyla D’Andrea, level 6 age 10, placed 18th overall was 13th on beam.
