Anyone over the age of 12 in Sarnia-Lambton will need to provide proof of vaccination to enter sports and recreational fitness facilities.

Proof of partial vaccination was required as of Oct. 31, and full vaccination or a valid medical exemption is needed by Nov. 30.

The move impacts sports leagues, organized pick-up sports, dance classes, gymnastics, and martial arts and swimming classes.

Lambton Public Health said the decision was necessary because organized sports and high-intensity fitness places participants at greater risk of COVID-19 transmission.

In addition to players, the move applies to coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators 12 and older.

Local school boards are abiding by the order, which impacts student athletes playing indoor sports.
