Sarnia Police say it was lucky no one was seriously injured when a car crashed through the wall of an Exmouth Street building on Tuesday, just east of Melrose Avenue.

The car was travelling east on Exmouth from Melrose when it struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk, the driver lost control, and the car plowed half way through a brick wall.

The pedestrian wasn’t injured and the driver was taken to hospitalbut did not appear to have been injured either, police said.

No one was near the building when it was hit.

The driver was charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
