Mosquitos in Corunna have been found carrying West Nile virus.

The insects collected July 31 from a trap were the first to test positive for the virus in Sarnia-Lambton this summer.

To reduce the risk of infection, Lambton Public Health recommends using insect repellent containing DEET and eliminating breeding areas by removing standing water from eavestroughs and around the yard.

To track the virus, the public is asked to report all dead birds by calling 519-383-3824, ext. 3824, or online at www.lambtonhealth.on.ca.
