Things might look a little different around here.
As you may have heard, there’s been some changes at The Sarnia Journal.
This summer, we made the decision to end our print publication — and it was a difficult one.
Believe us, nothing matches that feeling of holding a crisp newspaper, the fresh ink on your fingertips, browsing the weekly trivia to the community events, sports teams and everything in between.
But no one could have predicted the unprecedented challenges brought on by the pandemic, and its impact on an already struggling industry.
It wasn’t easy saying goodbye to our printed newspaper after more than eight years, but we’re looking onward with optimism — shifting our focus here, online.
We’re enhancing our website and adding a daily newsletter — ensuring we’re reaching you, our readers, across Sarnia-Lambton.
Check out our new ‘Photo of the Day’ feature, and send us your best shots of the community. Have something to say? Submit a guest column or letter to the editor. Know someone doing incredible things? Nominate someone for our ‘Exceptional People’ series. And don’t forget to send in your events, team photos and story ideas.
Will we make mistakes? Absolutely. We’re not perfect but we’ll gladly accept your feedback, correct errors, and own up when we miss a beat.
The Journal’s humble roots began as a labour of love: to provide an intensely local publication and become a vital voice for the community.
That’s what we’ve done, and will continue to do.
Here’s to the next chapter. Thanks for reading.
