If you’re 50-plus and looking for a new activity, Kevan Parsley may have just the solution.

“Walking soccer” is played like regular soccer, but in 30-minute games on a shorter field, with smaller nets, and no running allowed.

Parsley learned about walking soccer while in the U.K. where participants play well into their 80s, he said.

“You’re not moving fast, you get out and you meet some people, and you get some exercise.”

The Sarnia man is holding an information session and demonstration game at Norm Perry Park on Sept. 27, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Parsley has been working with the city on the concept, and the goal is to create a program that would operate next year.

“We could organize a league or just play a game a week, depending on how many people show up,” he said.
