Plans are well underway for Sarnia’s beloved Celebration of Lights event — and organizers are hoping for a surge in help.

“We still need sponsors to help make this event happen,” Celebration of Lights chair Dean Holtz said in a statement, noting the return of the traditional opening ceremonies for the first time in three years.

“We need about $10,000 more to offer this event with high quality to our community.”

Volunteers are also needed to help transport and set up displays throughout Centennial Park, both on Nov. 5 and 12.

“We need an army of people to help assemble displays.”

Opening ceremonies for the 38th annual Celebration of Lights is planned for Saturday, Nov. 26 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Agora Stage, Centennial Park, featuring a Christmas concert, Santa, fireworks display, horse trolley rides and more.

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Dean Holtz at 519-330-4490.
