Sarnia-Lambton had the third highest number of viewers among 39 municipalities that participated in the first ever virtual Canada Day fireworks.

Sarnia-Lambton had a total of 7,512 views on July 1, behind only Windsor and Burlington, Ont.

The experience showcased family activities and ended with a virtual fireworks display, with the final countdown led by astronaut and Sarnia native Chris Hadfield.

“Although we would have rather celebrated Canada Day all together, we are pleased with the positive response we received,” said Mark Perrin, executive director of Tourism Sarnia-Lambton.
