The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton has adjusted its expectations after coming up just short in last year’s campaign.

The umbrella fundraising agency is setting a “needs target” of $1.9 million for the upcoming drive, which is the minimum needed to support the current 36 programs and services, it said.

After setting the bar at $2 million last year the agency took in $1,969,000, ending a 25-year run of achieving the preset target.

“Lambton County residents have a long history of giving, and we are asking each one to help us meet the Needs Target,” said volunteer campaign chair Vicky Ducharme.

The United Way campaign officially will officially kick off with the annual Day of Caring on Sept. 10.

The Sarnia Sting “Black and White” game was scheduled for this week and the Enbridge Car show is on Sept. 7.
