You might need to shield your eyes when the Sarnia Sting host the Windsor Spitfires in OHL action next month.

But the visual discomfort will be for a good cause.

To raise funds for The Inn of the Good Shepherd, the hockey club and Mainstreet Credit Union are teaming up on an Ugly Christmas Sweater Night on Friday, Dec. 11 at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre.

The players will don Ugly Christmas Sweater Jerseys for the match, which will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds to the Inn.

Fans can also support the cause by bringing non-perishable food items to the game, or by purchasing game tickets from either the Inn or one of Mainstreet’s five local branches, with $5 from each ticket donated to the Inn.

“What a fun promotion with the Sarnia Sting Hockey club,” said Inn executive director Myles Vanni. “An Ugly Christmas sweater you’ll want to have.”

Mainstreet will have a photo booth on the concourse where fans can have a photo taken dressed in their Christmas worst.

They can also go online to bid on specialty experiences at the Dec. 11th game, such as working the goal horn, taking part in a ceremonial puck drop and watching warm-ups from the bench.
