Two Lambton County drivers were charged by Elgin County OPP in separate incidents over the weekend.

Police say a 20-year-old from Petrolia was charged after an officer with the Elgin County OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on the westbound Highway 401 in the municipality of Dutton-Dunwich, around 11:20 a.m., Friday.

The stop came as a result of multiple traffic complaints and the officer’s observations of aggressive driving. As a result, the individual was charged with careless driving, speeding and pass on right – not in safety.

Meanwhile a 38-year-old Sarnia driver was charged after an officer with the Elgin County OPP (Chatham detachment) stopped a passenger vehicle on Highway 40 north of Brook Line in Chatham-Kent, around 11 a.m. Friday. The stop came as a result of the notification from the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

As a result, the driver faces a charge of driving while under suspension.
