Time to jazz it up

Tickets are on sale now for the 14th annual Can Am Jazz event featuring Dr. George Delgrosso and a roster of local and regional musical artists.

Can Am Jazz is held every year and supports the Sarnia Community Foundation and the Bluewater Health Foundation.

This year’s lineup begins at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24 at Sawmill Creek Golf Resort and Spa.

The show kicks off with Femme Fusion featuring Louise Cooke, Alison King and Leah Tzianas, three young women from Sarnia, Bright’s Grove and Kitchener performing everything from jazz, blues, Motown and swing.

They are followed by Delgrosso’s Dr. D. and All That Jazz, The Alfredo Caxaj Latin Jazz Ensemble along with Peter Hysen delivering salsa, the cha-cha, cumbia, bolero, Latin jazz as well as original compositions.

Vocalist Sharon Beeler, who recently released a new CD called Moving in a Slow Groove, is also performing, in addition to Andy Tatersall, Johnny Bond, Charlie Stevens and Doug Matheson.

On tap under the big tent is everything from Latin to smooth jazz, ending at 5 p.m.

Admission is $20 for VIP seating and $15 for general admission. Tickets are available at all Sarnia Scotiabank locations, the Sarnia Community Foundation office at 560 Exmouth St. Unit 110, the hospital or Sawmill Creek.

A barbecue lunch is available at an additional cost and a cash bar will be open.
