A 25-year-old woman who blew a kiss at a passing Sarnia police officer was arrested Saturday after the officer recognized her as a wanted theft suspect.

The patrolling officer was driving past a business in the area of Vidal and Devine streets when his attention was drawn by the would-be flirtation.

Unfortunately for the woman, the officer matched her with a suspect captured on a store surveillance video earlier the same day.

City police had been called to a Christina Street store where a man distracted the clerk while a woman took two hats and left without paying, police said.

The clerk tried to detain the man, who threatened the clerk and left.

When the patrol officer recognized the kiss-blower he arrested her and the man she was with.

The man, 31, faces theft, assault and breaching probation charges. The woman faces charges of theft and possession of stolen property.
