Winners of the ‘Take Your Shot’ teen photo contest have been announced, and will have their work displayed at an upcoming exhibit at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery (JNAAG).

The County of Lambton, in partnership with the gallery, hosted the contest, and received more than 90 submissions over a three-month period.

A panel of jurors selected 26 photographs for the exhibit, Humans of Lambton, opening Aug. 4 at the JNAAG, and four teens will receive awards for their creative images — Rylee Kerr (Overall Winner), Miranda Hurst (Groups), Isabelle Robert (Candid/Environmental), and Ava Donald (Creative/Fine Art).

“We would like to acknowledge all of the teens who responded to the call for submissions and hope to see continued submissions the annual contest continues in the years to come,” said Sonya Blazek, Curator/Supervisor at Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery.

Teens who will also be included in this year’s exhibition include Alexis Brown, Alyssa Bydeley, Benedict Lumapas, Elliott Besley, Jade Harris, Lina Chanaga, Raveena Duggal, Regan Jacklin, Savana Gorniak, and Sydney Roper.

An artist preview for the teens being showcased in the exhibit will be hosted at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery on Thursday, August 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Winners will receive recognition of their achievement that evening.

“The Take Your Shot Teen Photo Contest partnership between Lambton County Library and Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery was started in 2019, and we continue to be inspired by the young talent in our community,” said Vanitia Campbell, Public Services Coordinator – Youth at Lambton County Library.
