Sting weather the Storm, advance to next round of playoffs

The Sarnia Sting will advance to the Western Conference Semi-Finals after defeating the Guelph Storm 4-3 in overtime in a tense up-and-down matchup at the Sleeman Centre, Sunday.

Nashville Predators prospect Nolan Burke scored the game-winner in overtime — his second of the series — sending the Sting to round-two of the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

Guelph opened the scoring once again, heading into the second period with a 1-0 lead.

Anaheim Ducks prospect Sasha Pastujov tied it up for Sarnia, but Guelph came back with another to take the lead again, 2-1.

Sarnia’s Ty Voit tied it up at 2 with five minutes left in the second period.

Guelph fired back again to take the lead in the third, but Pastujov scored his second of the game to tie it up again, before heading into overtime.

The Sting led the series 3-0 before Guelph stung back with back-to-back wins in Guelph and Sarnia.
