The Sarnia Sting drafted 15 new players in this month’s OHL Priority Selection, including highly touted Max Namestnikov in the first round (3rd overall).

The Russian native played last season in the Detroit Honeybaked system where he had 12 goals and 23 points in 13 games.

Namestnikov is the son and nephew of former NHLers Evgeny Namestnikov and Slava Kozlov, respectively.

He is also a younger brother of current Colorado Avalanche winger Vladislav Namestnikov and a nephew of Ivan Novoseltsev, another former NHLer who played two seasons with the Sting in 1997-99.

With their 10th round pick the Sting selected Wyoming native Austin Harper from the Lambton Jr. Sting.
