The Sarnia Sting are headed to the OHL Western Conference Final for the first time in franchise history after sweeping the Saginaw Spirit with a 4-0 shutout win in at the Dow Event Center, Thursday.

It will be ‘Battle of the 402’ as the Sting take on the London Knights who also punched their ticket to round 3 of the playoffs, downing the Kitchener Rangers 4-0, Thursday.

Sarnia came out buzzing in the first period with a powerplay goal from Luca Del Bel Belluz, followed by Easton Wainwright’s first of the night.

Marcus Limpar-Lantz made it 3-0 in the second period with a short-handed, unassisted goal, before Wainright added his second of the night, sealing the deal for a 4-0 final.

The win marked the third shutout of the playoffs for Ben Gaudreau — marking a franchise record — who was named OHL goalie of the week.
